THE LANGUAGE OF THE DESERT

The first known group of people to come across this desert are the Berbers. They are an ethnic group belonging to the North Africa. When the Berbers came, they brought their own language. It is called Tamazight. Itfs one of the oldest known languages in the world and is still being used today.After the Berberfs, the Bedouins came. Theyfre commonly known as nomads. These people may be wanderers but, they still have a language, Arabic. They introduced the Arabic language in Western Sahara.The Spaniards, during one of their many expeditions, finally discovered the hidden beauty of Western Saharafs dry land. Starting from the 19th century, up until 1976, the Spaniards were common settlers of this desert. They were in the desert for so long that several names of places are named in Spanish.
